Set of sea biscuits
Set of three (3) sea biscuits
These sea biscuits, found in Holden Beach, North Carolina, are the fossils of extinct echinoderms. During the beach renourishment project in 2022, dredging uncovered a previously undisturbed bed of Cretaceous age fossils. This bed was formed during the Peedee Formation, preserving both invertebrate and vertebrate fossils. These sea biscuits were dumped onto the beach during the renourishment, and over the last few years, have washed ashore in huge numbers. These fossils are anywhere from 35-70 million years old.
In addition to these extinct echinoderms, this Cretaceous age bed also held fossils of extinct sharks, mosasaurs, bivalves, and other extinct marine life.

All of my items are ethically sourced; no living animal is ever removed from its home. I only take what I need, in addition to picking up any plastics or trash I find along the way. Ocean conservation is a mission that I give back to - 10% of net proceeds are donated to a reputable organization.
When I'm at the beach, I typically spend 4-6 hours a day beachcombing. This usually amounts to about 3-5 miles depending on how much time I spend in each shell bed. My finds are washed, soaked, washed again, and when necessary, dipped in Acid Magic. I never add oil to my shells. Every piece has been meticulously planned, laid out, readjusted, and then, usually, readjusted again for the perfect fit. These pieces are a labor of love in every way - I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
